Whether you’ve entered your first page in our First Pages Critique or not, here’s another opportunity we’re offering to get that opening page set for agents, editors, and readers! Sit with Zachary Steele, author of The Weight of Ashes and Founder and Executive Director or Broadleaf Writers, for a ten-minute read and review of your first page!
These one-on-one critiques will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots are filled. Registration to the 6th Annual Broadleaf Writers Conference is required. The critique costs $25 and can be scheduled during registration. You may also sign-up after you’ve registered by emailing Zachary Steele at zach@broadleafwriters.com. Slots will fill up quickly, so ensure your opportunity and sign-up now!
Critique Guidelines:
- You must email your first page to Conference Vice-Chair Jessica Nettles at jessicaelfqueen@gmail.com. We will ensure your page is delivered to Zach when your meeting begins.
- Each first page should indicate the title and genre of the work in the upper right-hand corner of the page. For the critiques, you may include the authors name on the page, if you wish
- Please ensure your first page uses Arial or Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, black ink, double-spaced, 25 lines/page maximum. All margins should be at least one inch
- Do not bring more than one first page. Your ten-minute slot should be devoted to one first page
- Do not bring any correspondence or paperwork regarding other matters
